Our Community’s Latest Trend…

I’m not about to rant about our community’s misgivings, neither do I want to talk about things which are synonymous to our Malay community (read: Lazy, Teenage Pregnancies, Divorce, Tattoos, Drug Abuse etc). Rather I would like to highlight a new trend that is chillingly emerging and this is to the expense of innocent little infants being killed before they even know the meaning of life.

When we first heard of the late Nonoi‘s case and the brouhaha surrounding the families involved, we thought it was just a flash in the pan and something which happens in every community. But when another similar case comes out and another child is sacrificed, you start to think if “Physical / Child Abuse” can be added on to the list I mentioned above. And I thought Mats are supposed to be hard on the outside and soft on the inside???

Even though the papers did not name the little boy and his parents in their report, one can still read about them on the Net. The similarities between the two cases are uncanny. Parents are divorced and child is left alone in the care of the mother’s new boyfriend / spouse. I’m starting to think these girls are dumb enough to have fallen for beings that are worse off than animals. What were these clowns thinking when they abused these innocent children and left them to die a slow, painful death???

This is a classic example of how our community’s minority is able to sway and create a stunning impression as to how good we are at doing something negative and in this case, heinous. If only public stoning is allowed in this part of the world. I am sure many people like me will join the queue to stone the killers and let them die a similar death. Compassion is sorely lacking and I am damn sure so is patience and faith when all these abuse were being carried out.

What is the mark of a true Muslim??? I’m sure “Compassion” must be somewhere at the top of the list. In Islam, an amazingly powerful emphasis is laid on developing love for mankind and on the vital importance of showing mercy and sympathy towards every creature of Allah Almighty, including human beings and animals. For indeed, love and true sympathy are the very antidote of terrorism and extremism towards others.

I’m sure you’ve heard of this famous story whereby Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that some desert Arabs came to him one day and asked: ‘Do you kiss your children?’ He answered: ‘Yes.’ They said: ‘We never kiss them.’ The Prophet (PBUH) said:‘What can I do if your hearts have been stripped of compassion?’ He also said that Allah Almighty has no mercy for him who has no mercy for his fellow beings.

The measure of compassion shown by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) cannot but amaze anyone who knows how rough and violent the society into which he had been born was. But that was then. How about now when life is so much better and peaceful in this part of the world??? Why do we still have these kind of ill-treatment being dished out to innocent children??? Why can’t we show more compassion to children who still do not understand the meaning of life???

I really really hope these senseless beings would be made to hang by the noose sooner rather than later and the President would not grant them clemency even if they were to appeal. These kind of behaviour has no place in society and I am ashamed that this latest case has only made our stature affected even further as other people will now think of us as child abusers.

My heart goes out to the family members of the late Muhammad Izzul Salihin Bin Muhammad Farzid. May he rest in peace and may Allah place him together with all the pious ones (Salihin) and martyrs (Syahidin). Amin!!!
